The Kodi-odi-odiak Song
About the Song
“The Kodi-odi-odiak Song” is an upbeat rap-style companion to “His Name Is Kodiak.” It opens by calling back to some of the original song’s first lines, then takes the idea in a faster, more playful direction. I had come up with a beat I really liked and was having fun experimenting more with rapping, so it turned into another kind of Kodiak theme song—part introduction, part recap of the things he’s become known for, and part look at whatever might come next.
Lyrics
His name is Kodiak
And he's a travel cat, ay
He's traveled all the way
From Germany to LA
But if you see him on the road
Then you better know
He's got his harness and his leash
And he's ready to go
But if you don't know
Let me introduce you to the Kodi-Odi show
He's the kitty from the river in his own flow
He's a kitty from the wild, he was road-grown
He's the kitty on your For You, made your phone blow
He's the kitty with the cutest little hop
Breaking hearts with his chortle and a flop
He's the kitty with the city sitting pretty in the treetop,
The kitty with the theme bop
Kodiak, the one and only Kodi cat
Kodi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi
Kodiak, the one and only Kodi cat
Kodi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi
But what's next for the Kodi Cat?
Have we seen the best of the Kodi Cat?
Or is he just getting started
Through this world as an artist
Possessed by the Kodi Cat
He's out in the woods, he don't care about fame
Maybe he'll make us all another card game
Might be a book or a shared terrain
No matter what it is, we'll be singing that name
Kodiak, the one and only Kodi cat
Kodi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi
Kodiak, the one and only Kodi cat
Kodi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi-odi
